The natural expansion, contraction, and dimensional change of wood caused by changes in moisture content.
Wood movement is the dimensional change that occurs as wood gains or loses moisture. Movement is most noticeable across the grain and must be considered in door, trim, and millwork design, fabrication, finishing, and installation.
