What Is Stile?

A vertical structural member along the side of a stile-and-rail door.

A stile is a vertical member of a traditional stile-and-rail door. The stiles form the sides of the door construction and may provide locations for hinges, locks, or other hardware.

Buying Considerations

Review stile width and location when planning hardware, glazing, panel layouts, and machining. The hinge and lock stiles may have different functional requirements.
