What Is Rift-Sawn?
A method of cutting wood to produce a relatively straight, consistent grain with reduced visible cathedral patterns.
Rift-sawn describes a method of cutting lumber or veneer so the growth rings intersect the face at a relatively steep angle. The resulting grain is typically straighter and more linear than flat-sawn material.
