What Is Reveal?

A deliberate visible gap or offset between adjacent door or trim components.

A reveal is a controlled gap or step between adjacent surfaces or trim pieces. Reveals are used to create consistent visual lines and to accommodate movement or construction tolerances where appropriate.

Buying Considerations

Plan the reveal dimensions consistently across the jamb, casing, and adjacent trim. Small inconsistencies become noticeable across a large run of doors or moulding.
