What Is Jamb Extension?

A piece added to a door jamb so the jamb matches a wall that is deeper than the standard jamb size.

A jamb extension adds width to a door jamb so the finished jamb can accommodate a wall that is deeper than the base jamb dimension. Extensions are common when wall construction, drywall, paneling, or trim increases the finished wall thickness.
