What Is Jamb Depth?

The depth of a door jamb measured across the wall thickness from one face to the other.

Jamb depth is the width of the jamb component needed to span the wall assembly. The product specifications list standard jamb depths as well as optional ranges, so the jamb must be sized to the finished wall thickness.

Buying Considerations

Measure the finished wall thickness and verify the jamb depth supported by the selected product. Account for drywall, paneling, or other wall finishes when taking measurements.
