What Is Simulated Divided Lite (SDL)?

A door glazing configuration that uses one or more larger panes of glass with applied or integrated bars to resemble individual lites.

Simulated Divided Lite, commonly abbreviated SDL, creates the appearance of individual glass panes by using larger panes of glass with bars or grids applied to the surface or incorporated around the glazing.

Buying Considerations

Ask how the bars are constructed and attached, and compare the appearance with true divided lite construction. The glass specification, cleaning requirements, and profile dimensions should match the design intent.
